Google – this is great. This is pretty much Star Trek! If anyone asked you what is the ideal way of searching for something, most people will say that they want to simply say what they want and for the search engine to find it. Well this is what the Google App does. Simply speak into the microphone and the app will convert your voice into text and search Google. Does it work? Well for me, I have around a 80% success rate (but I do enunciate my words quite well). Another great part of this app is that it will (using the GPS built into your device) know where you are and do a localised business search – as an example, if you simply said “Bike shops” into the microphone, it will look at your location and come up with a directory of local businesses for you. DropBox – a very underrated app (for me at least). DropBox is simply a service that gives you a virtual hard drive which you can synchronise across several computers as well as your iPhone. This means that if I am at work, at home or even on the move I can access the same files. Recently I was asked to do a talk at a networking event. I started writing a document at home, continued using my work computer and delivered it from my iPhone. As well as documents you can also upload pictures and music file. CoPilot – this was one of the first apps I purchased (and I had it on my previous Windows mobile phones). Although others prefer TomTom, I have (touch wood) never had a problem with it – it gets me exactly where I want and I haven’t had problems using it. I would highly recommend this app. Opera Mobile - this is a replacement internet browser - it makes surfing a lot faster as it downloads all the pages to it's own servers first and then sends it to your iphone - no I don't understand either :) What you need to know - it is faster - but it is not as secure, since it is going through a third party site. Great for browsing the site (BBC news site loads very quickly) but not good for shopping with your credit card details
