Restaurants in Great Yarmouth PDF Print E-mail

Okay, I love eating - entertaining as well as eating out, so I thought that I would put a review of restaurants in Great Yarmouth that I have eaten at. There are some great places:

The Lounge @ The Andover Hotel http://www.andoverhouse.co.uk/norfolkrestaurant.html

this is my favourite place to eat in Great Yarmouth, though sadly it is not cheap and is therefore somewhere I can't say that I frequent often. The last time I went there (birthday celebration) was an amazing night with some good friends. A bistro style menu with local produce. Quality drinks from speciality vodkas through to a fantastic wine choice. Typical meal for two cost would be around £75

Toni Poni Taverna http://www.columbiataverna.com/

Very convenient as it is at the bottom of the street I live in. A Greek menu with a very tasty Meze for those of you who like to try a bit of everything. Their Rib Eye steaks are also very tender and cooker perfectly. Booking in advance is essential as this place is very popukar. A meal for two around £60

Number 63 @ The Bromley - sadly this place doesn't appear to be open anymore

We have just tried this place (off Regent Road) and it was very good - plan on going back soon. Similar in style to The Lounge (modern, clean and good quality menu with less than a dozen main courses on it) Meal for two price around £60

The Charcoal Grill no website - Tel: 01493 844 938

On the seafront, this can look a little dilapidated from the outside, but the food is great quality. Michael gives a brilliant service and it is a place we regularly use.A massive choice of menu it is one of the few seafront restaurants that is open all year round and has constant custom. Meal for two price from £25 - £50

The Olive Garden no website: 01493 844 641

I went there a few years ago and was very underwhelmed. I tried it again a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised. Another busy restaurant, although the food was good, this is one of the few Yarmouth restaurants where the owners are not visible and the service although good is not as good as any of the aforementioned places. Typical meal for two price £60

Cafe Cru @ The Imperial http://www.cafecrurestaurant.co.uk/

I have eaten at The Imperial Hotel on several occasions and every time I have enjoyed it. Cafe Cru carries on that tradition with the exception of their roast dinner. This was very disappointing. Other than that, great food, nice interior and certainly somewhere to go if you want to dress up a bit more.

Bombay Nights http://www.bombaynite.com/

If you want an Indian, then Raz and his family own three of the Indian restaurants in Yarmouth (and one in Gorleston). Why are they successful? Because they do fantastic food. I have never had a bad meal there and we go around 5 or 6 times a year and have been for the last few years.

Cafe Nova http://www.cafenovabistro.co.uk/

Spanish Tapas bar with a great concept. Pay one price (£19.95) and the table is yours for the night. You order a variety of tapas, it is brought out to you, you eat it (washing it down with copious amounts of wine), you chat, you order more tapas and start all over again. Billy is a wonderful host, and this is a great place to go with friends.

Sadly, this has changed and no longer offers the pay one price but has a normal tapas menu

Andrews (Regent Road) 01493 844641

We went here one night as one of our usual haunts was fully booked. Best recommendation I can give is that we have been back several times since. Good value food in a recently refurbished restaurant. Typical price for a meal for 2 would be about £35

The Italian Restaurant (King Street) http://www.theitalianrestaurant.co.uk/

Owned by Graham, another extensive menu (but no Calzone :( Good value and good food. They have some cracking set menu deals (as well as offers in the advertiser) the only slight criticism would be that it can be quiet mid week and it is a big place.

Pub On the Prom Bistro (Marine Parade) http://www.promhotel.co.uk/pubontheprom.php

I have only been here once but the food ans service was excellent (only one complaint is that the cheeseboard has English Brie!!!) Intimate style surroundings with around 25 seats and look forward to going again soon.
